Multilingua works with the Workers Educational Association (WEA) to provide courses in Community Interpreting throughout the South West.
Spring 2010 Courses
Community Interpreting: Essential Skills and Knowledge (CIESK)
WEA, Bradninch Court, Castle Street, Exeter
Start Date: 14th March 2010
Sundays 10am – 4.30pm
*This course begins with a compulsory three-hour induction course on February 28th from 1pm to 4pm
The CIESK accredited course is for people who are fluent in English and another language and who have:

Paid or unpaid experience of interpreting in public services in the UK

Understanding and knowledge of the communities they represent

Fluency in English and another language spoken locally
It is a 60 hour course focusing on interpreting skills, the role of the interpreter and issues raised. The cost is £295, it is free for those on means-tested benefits such as Job Seekers Allowance or Income Support.
